How to Connect WhatsApp Business to Chatbot Builder AI

This document outlines the necessary steps to integrate your WhatsApp Business account with Chatbot Builder AI, enabling advanced features, mass messaging, and automation through the WhatsApp Cloud API.

Crucially, by following this method, you will be able to keep all your existing contacts and old conversations within your WhatsApp Business application on your cell phone.

Connection Steps

1. Install WhatsApp Business

  • You must have the WhatsApp Business application installed and functional on your mobile phone.

2. Create or Verify a Meta Business Manager (BM)

  • You need a Meta Business Manager (BM), also referred to as a Commercial Portfolio or Commercial Administrator.

3. Link Your WhatsApp Business Number to the BM

  • Go to your BM's Business Settings.

  • Find the WhatsApp Accounts section.

  • Click Add and enter your WhatsApp Business number, including your country code.






  1. Meta will send a verification code to your WhatsApp to confirm the connection.

  2. Once validated, your WhatsApp Business account will be linked to the commercial portfolio.




4. Connect the Account within Chatbot Builder AI

  • Log in to your Chatbot Builder AI account.

  • Within Chatbot Builder AI, go to Settings - Channels and then select WhatsApp.


  • Click Connect and then Continue to open the Meta registration window.


  • Select the Business or Commercial Portfolio that has your WhatsApp Business linked.


  • Choose the option Connect your existing WhatsApp Business app (you must ensure you have the WhatsApp Business app on your phone).


  • Confirm your WhatsApp Business account details and time zone.


  • The tool will display a QR code that you must scan with the WhatsApp Business application on your mobile phone to link it to Chatbot Builder AI. (Keep in mind that you will receive a Facebook notification in your WhatsApp Business in which you must click the Connect option to share your contacts and chats with the platform)


5. Payment Configuration

You must add a payment method and set it as default. This is required for the WhatsApp Cloud API to function, which enables automations, mass messaging, and large-scale use. (While using the account solely from the mobile app remains free, using WhatsApp message templates through the API does incur an additional cost from Meta).





By following these steps, your WhatsApp Business account will be successfully connected to Chatbot Builder AI, allowing you to leverage the full power of automated communication and commercial operations without losing your historical chats or contacts.
